The past three
quarters have been challenging
for investors. Credit markets,
sub-prime loans and housing have
continued to hinder economic
output and financial markets
worldwide. In response, the
Federal Reserve has responded
with a series of interest rate
cuts, bringing the Fed Funds
rate down 325 basis points to
2%. Despite these efforts,
financial markets have
struggled. The widely-followed
S&P 5001 index declined 2.72%,
while investment grade bonds2
declined 1.01%. |
